Summer is a lovely time for dancing. With the warm breezes blowing, the sun shining, the grass warm beneath our feet, and more time on our hands…if you’re looking for something fun to do with your family this summer, get outside and dance!

Recently, a team of Barefoot Books employees from our Cambridge office participated in the JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge in Boston. We asked one of the runners, Sarah Soldano, our Graphic Designer, to share her story about the meaning of the evening. In her words

I am in the land of trees again (with warm thanks to everyone who commented on ‘Talking to Trees’ a few weeks back). This time, my starting point is a bit dispiriting. The child health journal Acta Paediatrica has just published research measuring the strength of 350 ten year-olds against a similar group who were measured ten years earlier. The findings show that our children are getting feebler: arm strength is 26% down; the ability to do sit-ups has plummeted. Children can’t climb trees the way they used to.

As Father’s Day approaches on June 19, we asked Drew Bennett, social media maven and new Barefoot Books Ambassador (one of quite a number of dads in the community!) to share a story about his idea of a perfect family day. We first met Drew at a party we hosted for the Boston Parent Bloggers group last winter at our Studio in Concord, Mass., and thus began a wonderful friendship.
