Our Cambridge office recently had a reshuffle. Seating arrangements were changed, couches were moved and desktop decorations found new homes! While we’re all settling in with our new neighbors and adjusting to our new locations, we thought we’d share a few photos from the move with you—all the chaos and all the fun—and our top three reasons for why a change of scenery was long overdue!

It’s no secret that being a mother is hard work, no matter whether you work outside the home or as a full-time caregiver. This upcoming Sunday is Mother’s Day in the US, but we believe that you shouldn’t need a special occasion to celebrate everything mothers do for their children and their families — so here’s a list of sweet, inexpensive gifts to show your love for those special mothers in your life!

Imagine my delight when I walked into the private dining room of one of Boston’s classiest restaurants to enjoy a night devoted to Raising a Reader MA and was welcomed by wondrous book chandeliers and a book wall! I just had to speak with the designers, Lauren Pulver and Jordan Mills, whose jaw-dropping creativity, intelligence and wit made them two of the stars of the event—right up there with Andre Dubus and Chris Van Allsberg. Read on to learn more, or read up on this spectacular fundraising event here.

Thank you to everyone who left a comment and entered the contest, we loved hearing from you! Congratulations to Tori Maurer, our winner. This contest is now closed, please stay tuned for more!

Tune in to hear the song and read on for a chance to win!

If you could dine with an author, who would it be? This fantasy turned into reality for those who attended the Raising a Reader Massachusetts Dinner with an Author. It was a magnificent evening filled with fascinating conversations, connections and fun—all to help children who are at risk of dropping out of school feed their imaginations.

Today is International Children’s Book Day, and to celebrate, we thought we’d share some of these darling pictures of children frolicking in all that spring offers, which we think has a lot to do with children’s books…

Tell me if this is what happens in other families. Your child comes home from preschool loaded with goodies. There are papers sticking out of her backpack, her nap bag, her pockets and lunchbox. She takes off her backpack, rifles inside and pulls out one, two, three, four, five paintings. “I made these all today! Can we hang them up now?” she exclaims eagerly, obviously expecting a resounding “Yes!” for an answer.

What do kings, queens, an evil man in a three corner hat, lots of festive noisemaking and merriment, and buttery jam-filled cookies have to do with anything? It may sound like a description about one of our stories, but it’s actually about Purim, the Jewish festival that celebrates the Jews’ escape from extinction in Persia about 2,500 years ago.

Today we are pleased to have guest blogger Bronte Abraham* share her story about how Barefoot books have helped her son with autism learn, grow and embrace the wider world!
