Here are some fun facts about children and faeries:

  • Some of the best known stories about faeries involve them stealing babies from their human parents; babies who are not baptized or haven’t been named yet are thought to be especially vulnerable.
  • When faeries steal a child, they are thought to leave a “changeling” in her place.
  • A changeling is an ill-tempered, sickly child with a large appetite.
  • It is believed that children find it easier to see faeries than adults do.
  • Faeries are supposedly attracted to the beauty and playfulness of children.
