When you’re working on a project with—literally— the scope of the world, it’s bound to be a big one. Today we are delighted to share with you the official debut of the Barefoot Books World Atlas, an interactive, multi-layered project that makes the world fascinating and accessible for young explorers. We shared a preview of the Atlas over the summer, but now we’ve “got the whole world in our hands!” Read on to learn about a special promotion we are offering to celebrate this new Barefoot Books title!

Our atlas was created by Nick Crane, earth enthusiast and BBC TV presenter. Nick has traveled all over the world; his many adventures include cycling across the Atlas mountains, walking west to east across Europe from Santiago de Compostela to Istanbul and most recently, traveling by land and sea with his family from England to Greece and back. Nick has also written a highly acclaimed biography of Mercator. We’ll be hearing from Nick about his travels in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

The map-maker behind the Barefoot Books World Atlas is David Dean. His illustrations bring the world to life with stunning detail, featuring images of famous landmarks, amazing wildlife and more.

Publishers Weekly said of this new Barefoot Books title, “with its emphasis on sustainability, interconnectedness, and diversity, the book offers young armchair travelers and globe-trotters much to discover.”
